Don’t Let Covid-19 Stop You from Taking the 2020 Census

In the Face of Covid-19, Your 2020 Census Participation Is More Important Than Ever

As the U.S. combats the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever to complete your 2020 Census and contribute to a full, accurate count. Results of the questionnaire will decide what government dollars are given to critical Dallas County programs for schools, roads, and much more – including critical health care programs at health care facilities like Parkland, Los Barrios Unidos Community Clinic, and Agape Clinic.

Taking the 2020 Census Despite a Pandemic

Are you sheltering in place with limited ability or only your mobile phone to access the internet? Luckily, taking the U.S. 2020 Census online at www.2020census.gov is not the only way to do so. You may also:

  1. Receive your 2020 Census form in the mail. Simply complete the 10 questions and mail it back. Did you lose it? No problem. Call 844-330-2020 and receive the assistance you need.

  2. Complete the 2020 Census over the phone by calling 844-330-2020.

Do you know anyone with limited or mobile-only access to the internet? Let them know how they can take the census, too. Let’s get everyone counted!

Face-to-Face Communication About the 2020 Census During the Covid-19 Pandemic

As the country opens up, you’ll see 2020 Census volunteers talking to people in your community about the census. Whether you’re talking to a census volunteer, participating in a census event, or going to the grocery store or into work, we want everyone to stay safe in the presence of others. To prevent the spread of Covid-19, here’s a quick reminder of what the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly and often – with antiseptic soap or hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.

  2. Avoid close contact with others. Social distancing helps slow the spread.

  3. Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when near others. If you don’t have a store-bought mask, it’s okay to make your own.

  4. Cover coughs and sneezes (even when alone) with a tissue or into your elbow. Discard any used tissues in a trash basket.

  5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

How a Full 2020 Census Count Will Benefit Health Care

  1. Helps ensure fair access to health care for everyone (regardless of status) with county-based health facilities.

  2. Decides how much money is spent on health care programs like Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, WIC, and Special Programs for the Aging, Title III, Part C, Nutrition Services.

  3. Helps improve public health care with guidance from several important studies that depend upon census responses and cover everything from patient services to resources that make it easier to get needed care.
